How To Manage Workouts
Introduction
In this article we will discuss how you can manage and manipulate workouts. If you want to see what you can do within a workout, please have a look at Workout Tips & Features. If you want to see how workouts integrate with a program, have a look at How To Manage Training Programs.
Create workouts
Quick workout
You want to get straight into your workout and not think too much how it integrates with the rest? Then creating a quick workout is for you. Every workout in Flex Quest is related to a program, but in this case, it will automatically add the workout based on the year, the month and the week you create the workout.
On both desktop and mobile, you can navigate the main menu from the training section to “New Workout” and click on “Today”. It will ask you for the name of the workout and will take you to the workout page automatically.
On mobile, you can also click the speed dial at the bottom right of the screen when you are on the training dashboard, and tap “Quick Workout”.
Add workout to an existing program
If you already have a program and you want to add a new workout to it, you can do so by navigating the main menu from the training section to “New Workout” and tap “To Existing Program”. You will be asked the name of the workout and which part of the program you want to add it to.
On mobiles, you can also tap the speed dial at the bottom right of the screen when you are on the training dashboard, and tap “Add Workout To Program”.
Of course, you can also go to your program page and add the workout directly from there. See more details about that in How To Manage Training Programs.
Delete workouts
From the workout page
You can delete a workout from the workout page by scrolling down and tap “Settings”. You will see a red button named “DELETE” near the bottom of the page.
From the program/macro page
You can delete a workout from the program page. Navigate to the workout and tap on it to open the settings page on desktop, from there, you will see a red button named “DELETE” near the bottom of the page.
On mobiles, tapping on the workout name will first show a quick action bar at the bottom. Click on the “Settings” icon at the very right to reveal the red icon to delete the workout.
Any deleted workout or program is lost forever, please make sure you only delete them if you are entirely sure!
Move & Copy workouts
Flex Quest lets you copy and move workouts to any micro cycle from any existing programs. This feature is incredibly useful if you created workouts in the wrong place, or if you want to use workouts as templates for the future.
To move/copy a workout, go to the program settings page and navigate to the right workout. On desktop, simply click on the workout to show the workout settings page. On mobile, tap the workout name to show the quick action bar at the bottom, then tap on the “Settings” icon at the very right and tap “More”.
Once on the workout settings page you will see two buttons: “COPY TO” and “MOVE TO”. Click on the one you want, select the destination micro cycle and validate your choice. That’s it!
Workouts can only be moved/copied from the program page.
Workout states
To help you keep track of your progress, workouts can be in the following different states:
- To Do: The workout is on your to do list.
- In Progress: The workout has started but is not done yet.
- Done: You completed the workout, great job!
- Skipped: You skipped that workout. For whatever reason (work, injuries, life…), you may end up in a situation where you couldn’t do that workout at all. Does that mean you should delete it from your program? And what if you want to copy that micro cycle for next week, that workout would be missing… But what about statistics if you keep it around? Well, in Flex Quest, you can simply mark it as Skipped. It will stay in the micro cycle and won’t be included by default for statistics calculations. Note that looking at your program stats, you can include workouts in “Skipped” states to compare what you planned to do vs what you really did.
Also, each set marked as “Skipped” will stay as “Skipped” when you complete the workout.
Only the “In Progress” state cannot be set manually. It’s manually set by the App when you start the workout.
When you complete a workout and it’s marked to “Done”, it will automatically set all exercises and sets to “Done” that were in “To Do” states. This is so you don’t have to check and tap on your phone too often and keep focusing on your workout. If you do want to manually update each individual set as you go you definitely can, but you don’t have to.
