How To Manage Training Programs

Introduction

In this article we will discuss how to manage and organize training programs in Flex Quest.

Create blank program

On both desktop and mobile, you can navigate the main menu from the training section to “New Program” and click on “Blank”. It will ask you for the name of the program and will take you to the macro settings page automatically.

On mobile, you can also click the speed dial at the bottom right of the screen when you are on the training dashboard, and tap “New Program”.

Program structure

Flex Quest organizes workouts across micro, meso and macro cycles. Understanding that is key to using Flex Quest at its full potential so we strongly suggest checking out The Program Structure In Flex Quest article if you haven’t already read it. Yes, it did deserve its own article!

Re-order cycles

You can re-order the sequence of macro/meso/micro cycles and workouts at any time directly from the macro settings page.

Simply navigate to the item you want to move up or down and click on it. On Desktop, it will automatically open the cycle settings page where you will see two buttons “MOVE UP” and “MOVE DOWN”. On mobile, tapping the cycle name will show the quick action bottom bar, then tap the “Move” icon to reveal “Up” & “Down” actions.

Tip: Collapse the cycle to hide its inner cycles to see better how the cycle moves next to its siblings.

Move & Copy cycles

One of the best features of Flex Quest is its ability to copy/move entire cycles. We all make mistakes, and you might have added and set up an entire week of training to the wrong place. You shouldn’t have to delete it and recreate it to the right place, instead, you can just move it there! Or, you may want to repeat your last week of training and don’t want to recreate it from scratch, then just copy it, rename it, and start training!

To move/copy a cycle, go to the program settings page and navigate to the right cycle. On desktop, simply click on the cycle to show its settings page. On mobile, tap the cycle name to show the quick action bar at the bottom, then tap on the “Settings” icon at the very right and tap “More”.

Once on the cycle settings page you will see two buttons: “COPY TO” and “MOVE TO”. Click on the one you want, select the destination cycle and validate your choice. That’s it!

A workout can only be copied/moved to a micro cycle. A micro cycle can only be copied/moved to a meso cycle. A meso cycle can only be copied/moved to a macro cycle.

At the moment, you cannot copy a macro cycle. But you can create a new one and copy/move cycles from other programs to it.

Cycle states

To help you keep track of your progress, cycles can be in the following different states:

  • To Do: All workouts are in “To Do” states, the cycle has not started yet.
  • In Progress: At least one workout has started and the cycle is therefore in progress.
  • Done: All workouts from the cycle have been completed. You can still have workouts in “Skipped” state.
  • Skipped: You skipped that cycle.

Only the “In Progress” state cannot be set manually. It’s manually set by the App when at least one workout from that cycle has started.

When marking a cycle to “Done”, it will automatically set all inner cycles & workouts currently in “To Do” states to “Done”. Cycles & workouts in “Skipped” state will remain as is.
