The Program Structure In Flex Quest

Flex Quest is different from most fitness apps due to the way it helps you organize your training.

We’re not re-inventing the wheel here and we’re simply re-using an existing structure made of: macro, meso and micro cycles.

A micro cycle is the sequence of workouts you perform before starting them again. It’s very common to see people organize their workouts around administrative weeks (from Monday to Sunday), and repeating them the following week. In that scenario, a micro cycle lasts a week. Hopefully, from one week to the next you will try to do a little bit more, but let’s discuss that in How To Setup Progressive Overload.

Following the same logic, a meso cycle wraps a sequence of micro cycles. It’s also often referred to as “block”. It will usually span over the course of several weeks to a few months or so and target goals like: increase strength, improve muscle endurance or do more classic hypertrophy work.

A macro cycle wraps a sequence of meso cycles and helps you organize your long-term goals.

At Flex Quest, we like that structure and everything training-related is organized around it. It’s a vertical hierarchy where a workout can only be added to a micro cycle, a micro cycle to a meso cycle, and a meso cycle to a macro cycle.

Understanding that structure is key to exploiting the full potential of Flex Quest.

It will help you organize and find your workouts with ease compared to having to deal with an unique and endless list of workouts as we find in most fitness apps.

Flex Quest also allows you to re-order the sequence of any workout or cycle, copy them and move them around. But you can learn more about it in How To Manage Training Programs.
